Mary Louise Hunter, 84, of Washington, died Saturday, January 24, 2009, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home.
She was born January 16, 1925, in Hopewell Township, a daughter of James Faunt Leroy and Hazel Belle Patterson Taggart.
Mrs. Hunter graduated from East Washington High School.
She was a homemaker who volunteered for many community organizations, including the American Cancer Society, Community Circle Food Pantry and the Washington Hospital, where she volunteered for more than 40 years.
Mrs. Hunter was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, Cross Creek Grange, Pomona Grange, the State Grange, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
On April 18, 1945, she married John H. Hunter, who died October 3, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, Lee Hunter of Washington and Kenneth Hunter of North Carolina; four daughters, Joyce (Bob) Anderson of Washington, Donna Hunter of Malden, Massachusetts, Carolyn (Mike) Molnar of Avella and Arlene McNeel of Windbur; 11 grandchildren, Mark, James, and John (Julee)Hunter, Jamie Hunter Baumgarner, Kim Hunter Tohey, Kelly Anderson, Josh and Matt Molnar, Stephanie Molnar Atkins, Ryan and Brandon McNeel; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a grandson, Ronald Lee Hunter; two brothers, Harold and Alex Taggart; and an infant sister, Florence Taggart.
Friends will be received 2 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31st, with Rev. Dr. Roger Raymond Fischer officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
