Bert Oscar Berry, 87, of Washington, died Monday, October 17, 2005, in Donnell House, Washington, following a lengthy illness. He was born February 2, 1918, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of Chester A. and Maud G. Shaw Berry. Mr. Berry worked as an electrician for 32 years at LTV Steel, Republic Steel and Union Draw. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Washington, Eagles 687 and AARP. Mr. Berry was a U.S. Army veteran. On November 10, 1945, he married Helen Elavsky, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Diana Lynn Berry of Washington; a brother, Victor Thomas Berry of Barberton, Ohio; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Dietrich of Manassas, Va.; two grandchildren, Scott (Jodi) Berry and Kara (Josh) Clark; and a great-grandchild, Brice Berry. Deceased are two brothers, Wesley E. Berry and Harry Berry; and two sisters, Willa Berry and Anna Lee Berry.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Additional visitation will be held from 10 until 11 a.m., the time of services, Friday, October 21, in First Lutheran Church, Walnut and North Franklin streets, Washington, with the Rev. Kenneth Schott officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in East Greenville Cemetery, Massillon, Ohio.
