Earl Martin "Squire" Lindley, 91, of Washington, formerly of Prosperity, died Thursday, July 21, 2005, in Southminster Place, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
He was born May 25, 1914, in Fayette County, a son of Lawrence and Rosina Schobert Lindley.
Mr. Lindley was a 1933 graduate of Morris Township High School.
He was the original owner of Prosperity Amoco and Lunch Room, which he operated for 10 years. He also worked for the Morris Township road crew for 10 years.
Mr. Lindley was a life member of Upper Ten Mile Church in Prosperity.
He enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
On November 25, 1937, he married Catherine Marie (Sadie) Fisher, who died March 8, 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Walther of Washington and Rosemary Dittman of West Finley; five grandchildren, Cyril, Renate and Johann Walther, Chad Dittman and Erika Dittman Minch; and six great-grandchildren.
A son, Paul Lindley, died at birth.
Friends were received from noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Home Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 25, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
