Kathryn Bridgett Hickson

Co-owner of Hickson's Office Supply. Kathryn B. Hickson, 95, of Washington, died at 5 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2005, in Washington Hospital. She was born October 28, 1910, in St. Marys, Elk County, a daughter of William F. and Theresa Valentine Gaffey. Mrs. Hickson attended Sacred Heart Grade School, graduated from St. Marys High School and attended Buffalo (N.Y.) General Hospital School of Nursing. She was co-owner with her husband, Paul, of Hickson's Office Supply in Washington, which they started in 1946 and sold in 1980. The local business still bears the Hickson name. Mrs. Hickson was a member of Immaculate Conception Church since moving to Washington and was a former member of Washington Women's Club. On July 29, 1931, in Wellsburg, W.Va., she married Paul B. Hickson, who died November 15, 1994. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Her caregivers and friends were John Stanko and Debbie Cherpak. Deceased are two brothers, Thomas and William Gaffey; and two sisters, Mary Gaffey and Renna Bortynak Gorman. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 3, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
