Josephine Margaret Hayes

Washington area cook. Josephine Margaret Hayes, 75, of Washington, died at 9:55 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2005, in Washington County Health Center, Washington, following a 28-year illness. She was born July 6, 1930, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Xavier and Margaret Balbach Kader. She had been a cook at various restaurants in Washington, including King's Restaurant on Route 19, Red Bull Inn, Ramada Inn and Washington Country Club. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, music, singing, crafts, and bowling. She also had a catering business. Surviving are a son, Charles F. Edwards III of Copperas Cove, Texas; five daughters, Margaret E. King of Washington, Marie Ward of Prosperity, Donna Sheppard and husband John W. of Washington, Roseanne Hughey of Loganville, Ga., and Victoria Edwards of Washington; 17 grandchildren, Robert A. Edwards, Paul A. Edwards, Joseph I. King, Jennifer P. Edwards, Diane C. Garrett, Charles F. Edwards IV, Christina Ward, Bunny Ward, Gerald Ward Jr., Robert W. Cape Jr., Jessica J. Dunn, Ryan Sheppard, Raymond Hughey Jr., Patrick Hughey, Amber Hughey, James R. Millikin IV, and Amanda L. Durila; and 24 great-grandchildren. Deceased is a daughter, Karen Lee Edwards. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday November 2, with the Rev. Duane Wolfe officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Donna Sheppard, 2188 Jefferson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
