Betty Mae Miller

Nurse enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking. Betty Mae Miller, 81, of Washington, died at 5:13 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2007, in Washington Hospital. She had been ill for more than two years. She was born January 12, 1926, in Cameron, W.Va., a daughter of Floyd and Mary Wilson Nestor. Mrs. Miller graduated from high school and then attended East Tennessee University, where she studied nursing, for 12 to 18 months. She was a practical nurse who took care of private patients. Mrs. Miller was a member and past president of Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of AARP. Mrs. Miller attended Trinity Episcopal Church. She enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing and cooking. Her first husband, Robert A. Deyell, whom she married November 15, 1948, died December 14, 1970. On November 11, 1989, she married Harry A. Miller Jr., who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert A. (Carol) Deyell and John M. (Julie) Deyell, both of Washington; two daughters, Betty Sue (Raymond) Tharp of Sarasota, Fla., and Rebecca L. Salamone of Washington; a brother, James Nestor of Trumbull, Conn.; a sister, Ruth Pecharka of Canonsburg; 10 grandchildren, Ethan John Deyell, Joseph Matthew Deyell, Jennifer Lynn Salamone, Mary Sue Tharp Mosley, Shari Rae Tharp, Sharon Tharp, Karen Tharp, Victoria M. Marshall, Elizabeth D. Ondrejko and Jesse Bedillion; and several great-grandchildren. Deceased are a daughter, Robin Deyell; a grandson, Steven Robert Tharp; a brother, Ross Nestor; and two sisters, June Cazelle and Norma Sprowls. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 23. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. A service will be held by American Legion Post 175 Ladies Auxiliary at 7 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
