Raymond Eugene (Gene) Mowell, 70, of Woodstock, Ga., died Friday, September 30, 2005.
He served 20 years in the U.S. military, with service in the Marine Corps in Korea and in the Air Force in Vietnam. After retiring from the military, he worked for GTE for 20 years, retiring in 1991.
Mr. Mowell was a 32nd degree mason and an active member of NRA. At the time of his death, he was the manager of River Bend Gun Club. Mr. Mowell was an avid sportsman who enjoyed target shooting, hunting, golfing and woodworking.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Bernice L. (Bea) Mowell; and his children, Diana Wall and husband David, Theresa Hall, Ramona Fullerton, Betsy Weaver, Beth E. Berry and husband Daniel, Brian K. Weaver, Michael Goins and Craig Goins; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 8, with Pastor Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to American Red Cross or a charity of one's choice.
