Owner of Frank Brown Masonry Contractors. Frank E. "Bruiser" Brown Jr., 76, of Washington, died Monday, October 3, 2005, in Washington Hospital. He was born September 15, 1929, in Washington, a son of Frank E. Brown Sr. and Anna Barbara Megyesy Brown. In 1949, he graduated from Trinity High School, where he was a member of the 1948 WPIAL co-champions football team. Mr. Brown attended two years of college and played football for Washington Generals. After college, he served in the Army in France and Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Brown was the owner of Frank Brown Masonry Contractors until he joined McAnallen Corp., where he worked as a project manager for 20 years. He then worked for Interstate Contractors Supply. At the time of his death, he was employed at Bear Construction, where he had worked for 12 years. He was a gold card member of Bricklayers Union No. 9. He belonged to the union for 53 years, served on the union's Bricklayers Apprentice Committee. He was a management trustee for Western Pennsylvania Bricklayers Pension Fund and was past chairman for Washington and Greene County Contractors Association and past business agent for Bricklayers Union. He was inducted into Washington and Greene County Labor Hall of Fame. Mr. Brown served as a South Strabane Township supervisor for 12 years and on South Strabane Planning Commission for six years. He was a member of Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands and a former member of Holy Name Society and Knights of Columbus. Mr. Brown was a recipient of St. George Award Catholic Diocese with Bishop Leonard and Bishop Bosco. He was very active in Boy Scouts. He was past chairman and past district commissioner of Catawba District and past counselor of Catholic Religious Awards in Scouting. Mr. Brown was an avid bowler and golfer. He was a member of Lone Pine Golf Club and a former member of Greene County Country Club. He was inducted into Washington-Greene County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of International American Legion, a member of Elks Club in Washington for 25 years and a member of Bears Club in Meadow Lands. He also played in the clubs' dart ball leagues. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be sadly missed by his family. On June 16, 1956, in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, he married JoAnn Razvoza Smith, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda Lee Brown Amon and Paula Brown (Matthew) Davey, both of Washington; six grandchildren, Frank A. Brown Jr., Corey Kenneth Brown, Ryan Matthew Davey, Kathleen Noelle Davey, Cara Jo Brown and Morgan Victoria Davey. Deceased are a son, Frank A. Brown; a grandson, Douglas Brian Amon Jr.; and a brother, George W. Brown. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, October 7, in Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands, with Fr. John O'Shea as celebrant. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
