Virginia Rose Wylie, 83, of Hopewell Township, formerly of Canonsburg, died unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, October 22, 2005.
She was born in Canonsburg on March 22, 1922, a daughter of John and Jean Downs Rose. She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and had once worked as choir director and organist at Canonsburg Methodist Church and First United Presbyterian Church in Houston. Mrs. Wylie privately taught piano and organ for many years prior to her retirement.
She was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church in Houston.
On February 21, 1941, she married George Thomas Wylie, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Thomas S. Wylie of Jacksonville, Florida, Edward L. Wylie of Washington, and David K. Wylie of Port Clinton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Susan, Tommy, Matthew, Michael, and Brittany Wylie, Jennifer Schoeph and Melissa Wylie Wierzba; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are three sisters, Evelyn Dalton, Margaret � Peg � Frye, and Mildred Bowen.
Friends of Virginia Rose Wylie, 83, of Hopewell Township, who died unexpectedly Saturday, October 22, 2005, will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 357 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
