Mary Ethel Bochek

Longtime secretary, manager for Miller Insurance Agency. Mary Ethel Bochek, 96, of Claysville, died Saturday, April 5, 2008, in Washington Hospital. She was born October 24, 1911, in Banetown, a daughter of Frank H. and Myrtle Amos Bainer. A Trinity High School graduate, Mrs. Bochek was a member of Liberty United Methodist Church for 53 years. She worked as a secretary and manager at Miller Insurance Agency for more than 50 years, was a receptionist at Extended Care Facility on Beau Street, Washington, and volunteered at Washington County Health Center in Chartiers Township. During World War II, Mrs. Bochek served in the Women's Defense Corps as an air raid warden. She enjoyed traveling as long as her health permitted. On May 21, 1948, she married Joseph Bochek, who died August 6, 1982. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Clara Anthony. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Inc., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, with the Rev. Lois Swestyn officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
