Rev. James R. Grimm, 87, of Amherst, Ohio and formerly of Washington, Pa., died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at Amherst Manor following a four month illness. He was born October 25, 1917 in Connellsville, Pa. He was a resident of Pennsylvania until 2002 when he moved to Amherst to be near family.
From 1930-1972 he was a miner at Robena Coal Mine, Green County, Pa. Simultaneously, he became a minister in the Nazarene Church, Having served as Pastor in Vanderbilt, St. Petersburg, Canonsburg, and Parris, from 1962 until his retirement in 1982. In retirement, he held many interim Pastor positions in Pennsylvania.
Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Ruth K. (nee Bolen); daughter, Florence E. ( her husband Leonard ) Walters of Amherst, Ohio; son, James R. Grimm of Dixon, Illinois; 9 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; and 7 Great-Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Lewis P. Grimm (2000); 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Friends of Rev. James R. Grimm, 87, of Amherst, Ohio and formerly of Washington, Pa., who died Sunday, March 6, 2005, will be received from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2005, at 11:00 am, Rev.�s Stephen Dillman and David Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Mariah Baptist Cemetery, Smithfield.
