Ethel M. Kelley

Ethel Toland Kelley, 82, of Auburn, Washington, died at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, October 25, 2008, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born January 1, 1926, in Washington, PA., a daughter of Walter Clinton Toland and Anna Marie Campbell. Ethel is best known to her close friends as “Punky”. This nickname was handed down in the family from her great grandfather. She lived in and around Washington, PA. until 1978, when her husband took a job with the Boeing Aircraft Co. She left a lot of friends and relatives in Pennsylvania and made quite a few friends in the state of Washington. She will be surely missed. Her kindness and love of family were an example to all. Ethel was a Christian. She and her husband joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in June 1947. As a member, she held many callings in the church; President of the Relief Society, Primary, and taught many children the gospel. She was a beloved wife and a devoted mother to her children. Ethel was a true homemaker, always there for her children. She was always busy with her family and the church. On January 1, 1944, in Houston, PA., she married Lloyd M. Kelley, who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband, are four children, Randolph Lee, of Taylorstown, Michael Douglas and Jeffrey Wayne, both of Auburn Washington; and Patricia Eileen, of Arcadia, Florida, sixteen grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Deceased are a son, Robert Lloyd Kelley, who died in 1950 at the age of two, of leukemia; two sisters, Fannie Elizabeth, who was married to George Mruk, of Washington, and Dolories, who was married to Frank Simpson, of Canonsburg. Ethel is the last of her immediate family. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 1, 2008, with Bishop Matthew North officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
