Millcraft Industries retiree served in WWII
George Franklin Chase, 86, of Amity, died Monday, October 28, 2008, in his home.
He was born October 9, 1922, in Washington, a son of Harry and Helen Crile Chase.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Chase retired from Millcraft Industries, where he had worked for several years.
He enjoyed working in and around his home, woodworking and, when younger, bowling.
On September 17, 1985, he married Flora Ann Brown, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Edwin (Veronica) Chase and Charles (Margaret) Chase, both of Burgles, Ohio; two daughters, Ruth (Ron) Roof of Amsterdam, Ohio, and Shirley Matherson of Burgles; two stepsons, Robert Unrue of Washington and James L. Unrue of Florida; two stepdaughters, Kathy Allum of West Finley and Janet Pendergrass of Amity; three brothers, Harry Jr. of Washington, D.C., Floyd of Washington and Arthur of South Carolina; two sisters, Jessie of Lemonte Furnace and Peggy of Arkansas; many grandchildren, including Sherri Pendergrass; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are his first wife, Mildred, and two brothers, Robert and Charles Chase.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services. William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., Washington, is in charge of arrangements.
