Mildred Liggett Jones, 91, of Avella, formerly of Buffalo Village, died Friday, December 2, 2005, in the Washington Hospital following a one month illness. She was born in Independence on July 23, 1914, a daughter of Robert G. and Alma Campbell Liggett. She was a graduate of Avella Schools and was a life long member of the Upper Buffalo United Presbyterian Church, having been a very active member prior to her illness. For many years, she worked as a clerk at the Washington Hallmark Store on Main Street. Mrs. Jones enjoyed flowers, gardening, feeding & watching birds, reading, and watching television. She very much loved her family and was known as a wonderful neighbor. On June 1, 1937, she married Wray M. Jones, who died on June 18, 1988. Surviving are a son, Robert W. ( Bernadette ) Jones, of Avella; three daughters, Nancy E. Zrimm, with whom she made her home, of Avella, Sandra ( Larry ) Kandros, of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Barbara ( James ) Roupe of Washington; thirteen grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, and Christopher Jones, Michael Zrimm, Nancy Dunkle, Lisa Kerr, Debbie Lindsay, Amy Spencer, James Roupe, Chad, Micah, and Kerri Kandros, as Ashley Jones; 20 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Kenneth & Robert Liggett, Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Morrison and Helen Scheib. Friends on Mildred Liggett Jones, 91, of Avella, formerly of Buffalo Village, who died Friday, December 2, 2005, will be received on Sunday, from 12-noon to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2005, at 2:30 pm, John Mark Scott, Sr., officiating.
