Stanley Majewski, 90, of Washington, died Sunday, October 5, 2008, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home. He had been ill since December. He was born July 22, 1918, in New Kensington, Westmoreland County, a son of Zygmont and Sophie Zaleski Majewski. Mr. Majewski graduated from Washington High School in 1941 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Caribbean, in Trinidad, and the West Indies. He was a member of Saint Hilary Roman Catholic Church in Washington. Mr. Majewski was a roofer for 23 _ years in Detroit and also with Pittsburgh Locals. He retired from Pennsylvania Transformer (McGraw Edison Company), Canonsburg, after twenty-five years of service. He was a member of Polish Club, Pulaski Club, VFW Post 927, Claysville American Legion, James R. Hunt Post 639. In his younger years, he was a member of Old Timer's Baseball Organization. Mr. Majewski's first wife, Joanne Grace Roseman, died in 1964. In June 1970, he married Reba Margaret Gregg, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Debbie (Gordon) Shaw, of Norwich, Connecticut, a step-daughter, Carol Malone and a stepon, Richard Mast, both of Washington; a sister, Josephine Kazarick, of Washington; a grandchild, Derek Shaw; eight step-grandchildren, Chris Shaw, April Shaw, Casey Shaw, Mark Malone, Kevin Malone; Michelle Lober, Ricky Mast and Rhonda Mast and eight great-grandchildren. Deceased are four sisters, Marie Baloga, Frances Grudi, Veronica Ciletti, and Agatha Zaremba.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 9, 2008, in Saint Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington, with Father Thomas D. O'Neil, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Hospice of the donor's choice. Military rites will be accorded by Claysville American Legion, James R. Hunt, Post 639.
