Mildred Hazel Meeks Dyson Balukas, 79, of Washington, died Friday, October 3, 2008, in Breese’s Rest Home.
She was born August 25, 1929, in Powhatan Point, Ohio, a daughter of the late Solman Theodore “Ted” and Mary Vittek Meeks.
Mrs. Balukos lived all of her life in Washington where she worked for a total of 32 years in the glass industry, the last 25 at Ball Glass as a Quality Control Technician. She had also worked at Hazel Atlas #2 and Tygart Valley Glass Co.
Mrs. Balukos was a member of Eagles #687 Ladies Auxiliary for 20 years.
Her first husband was William E. “Dean” Dyson.
On March 21, 1970, she married her second husband, Eugene A. Balukas, who died November 1972.
Surviving are three daughters, Diane L. (Derrick) Puskarich of Banetown, Cindy L. Wright and Linda K. Dyson, both of Washington; a son, Donald E. Dyson of Washington; one brother, Theodore D. “Ted” Meeks, USAF, Retired of Port St. Lucie, Florida; six grandchildren, Leslie Dyson, Megan McAllister, Dara Puskarich, Savannah Wright, Derrick (D.J.) and Drew Puskarich; and several great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sisters, Helen Gamrat and Shirley Wiggans; and a brother, Charles W. Meeks.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public services. William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, is in charge of arrangements.
