Thomas F. Atchison, Sr. Thomas F. Atchison, Sr., 78, of Washington, died after a lingering illness at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at The Washington Hospital. He was born on November 20, 1926 in Cherry Valley, PA, a son of Frank and Hazel Emery Atchison. Mr. Atchison had worked as a winder for McGraw Edison for 38 years. He was a lifetime member of the Westland Sportsman’s Club, and a 1946 graduate of Hickory High School. Mr. Atchison was a United States Army veteran of World War II, earning the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. On September 29, 1950, he married Carol Melvin, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas F. (Eliza) Atchison, Jr. of Avella, PA; 4 daughters, Sharon (Steve) Welch, Kathy Comer, Debra (Alan) Harps and Debbie (Harry) Reedy, a brother, Robert L. Atchison of Washington, a sister, Mary Anne Hughey of Bentleyville, PA; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Deceased are 2 brothers, William and Richard Atchison. Friends of the family of Thomas F. Atchison, Sr., who died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, will be received on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd.; 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA, where services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. David Harner officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery in McMurray, PA. Military Rites graveside by the Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 American Legion.
