James Lee Kilgore

July 2, 1922 — July 31, 2005

James Lee Kilgore, 83, of Washington, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in his home following a brief illness. He was born in Washington, on July 2, 1922, a son of Clarence L. and Pearl Adams Kilgore. Mr. Kilgore was a retired Truck Driver. He first worked for Beatty Motor Express and later for Suwak Trucking prior to retirement in 1984. He was a United States Army Veteran having served in World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic -Pacific Service Medal, FAME Service Medal with four Bronze Stars. He was a member of the Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 American Legion and the F.O.E. # 687. Mr. Kilgore enjoyed working in the yard and flower gardening which he did until his failing health prevented it. On April 10, 1943, he married Laura Mossburg, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Jean ( William ) Horn of Cokeburg, Judi ( Roy ) Hart of Richeyville, Diane ( John ) Marconi of Washington, and Linda ( Ed ) Brazier of Crown; a sister, Helen L. Carlson of Russell, PA ; six grandchildren, Jim, Ron, and Jamie Horn, Billie Jo Leech, Brian and Brenda Hart; and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Kifer and Betty Kearney. Friends of James Lee Kilgore, 83, of Washington, who died Sunday, July 31, 2005, will be received on Monday, from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 2:30 pm, with Rev. Keith Lohr officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton Post # 175 American Legion.
