Dorothy Triner Gilbert, 81, of Washington, died at 5:01 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2005, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 20, 1923, in Triadelphia, W.Va., a daughter of Ernest and Minnie Cartlidge Triner.
Mrs. Gilbert was a member of Christian Church of North America, Washington.
She was a high school graduate who worked as a window dresser at Horne's department store, Pittsburgh; at Methodist Publishing House; as a riveter, manufacturing tanks in a defense plant during World War II; and at John J. Kane Hospital, Scott Township.
Mrs. Gilbert enjoyed nature, painting and all crafts, including ceramics and flower arrangements.
On August 16, 1947, she married James Lawrence Gilbert, who died October 14, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Lawrence James Gilbert and wife Iris of Covington, Va.; four sisters, Hazel O'Donnell of Waynesburg, Elsie Simpson of East Palestine, Ohio, Mae Murray of Washington and Esther Johnson of Yulee, Fla.; and a grandson, Nathanael Lawrence Gilbert.
Deceased are twin sisters, one who died at birth and Irene who died at the age of two; and a brother, Ernest, who died at two.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21, with the Rev. John DePolo officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills.
