Machinist for Penn Mould also worked at Brockway Glass. Norman R. Gump, 73, of Washington, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2005, in his home, following a three-year illness. He was born May 10, 1931, in Washington, a son of Rex G. and Eleanore Brice Gump. Mr. Gump graduated from Washington High School in 1949 and was a member of Friendship Community Church. He was in the Army, serving in Germany during the Korean War. Mr. Gump was a machinist, retiring from Penn Mould. He formerly worked at Brockway Glass for 25 years. He was a member of LOOM 22, Annawanna Hunting and Fishing Club and Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175, was an avid Notre Dame fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing. On June 16, 1957, he married Dolores Joan "Dody" Greer, who died December 12, 2001. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey L. Gump of Washington and Kelly R. Gump of Claysville; a daughter, Louann Knox of Washington; five grandchildren, Jason Knox, Sean Knox, Shannon Gump, Justin Gump and Jeffrey L. Gump II; and four great-grandchildren, Jason and Jacob Knox, Joey Piatt and Chance Gump. Deceased is a brother, Louis B. Gump. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, January 24, with the Rev. Floyd Marasco officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175.
