John Leonard Sherburne

John Leonard Sherburne, 84, of Prosperity, died at 2:45 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2008, in Washington County Health Center. He was born November 25, 1923, in New York, NY, a son of Walter F. and Rachel Campbell Sherburne. Mr. Sherburne was a purchasing clerk at U.S. Steel Corporation for 38 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church. In years past, he helped with Junior Achievement. He enjoyed woodworking, walks outdoors, and camping. On May 6, 1950, he married Marion Louise Salter, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Robert Sherburne, of Lexington, OK, William Sherburne, of Northfield, NJ, and Richard Sherburne, of Prosperity; and two grandchildren, Brian and Scott Sherburne. Deceased is a sister. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 23, 2008, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Larry Deemer officiating.
