Donald Roy Wise

Donald Roy Wise, 77, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008, in his residence. He was born April 30, 1931, in Enon, Greene County, a son of Harleigh and Blanche Elizabeth Goodwin Wise. Mr. Wise graduated from Richhill High School. On October 30, 1952, he entered the United States Army and served as a Private First Class in the Military Police until his honorable discharge on October 29, 1954. For his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. From 1954 until November 1960, he served in the Army Reserves. Mr. Wise formerly owned Wise Refuse and, for over 45 years, worked as a laborer at Rubber Rolls. He was a member of Crossroads Presbyterian Church and Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion. Surviving are two sons, Donald Roy (Joyce) Wise, II, and Merle Leroy Wise, both of Washington; three daughters, Donna Mae (Warren) Malone of Burgettstown, Traci Darlene (Bruce) Butala of Hidden Valley and Connie Sue Tripoli of Washington; one brother, Harold Wise of Canonsburg; a sister, Marie Richie of Wellsburg, West Virginia; and seven grandchildren, Samantha Malone, Chase Malone, Christopher White, Domenique Tripoli, Danielle Tripoli, Ean Donald Wise and Zoe Grace Wise. Also surviving is his long-time caregiver and former wife, Ida Mae Wise. Deceased are two brothers, Lee and Richard John Wise; and three sisters, Margaret Huryn, Ruth Earlywine and Leota Hunt. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, September 29th, with Pastor Edward Blank officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
