Catherine Marie Lindley

Catherine Marie "Sadie" Lindley, 93, of Prosperity, died Monday, March 8, 2004, in the Donnell House following a one year illness. She was born in Washington on April 4, 1910, a daughter of James and Anna Lutzchencurcen Fisher. Mrs. Lindley was a 1927 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School and was one of the oldest living members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. For many years, she maintained a telephone switchboard in her home in Prosperity for Bell of Pennsylvania. She had once worked as an office clerk at Montgomery Wards in downtown Washington. Together with her husband , she owned and operated the Amoco Service Station and Lunch Room in Prosperity for several years. Until her retirement, she had spent 17 years as the Chief Deputy in the Washington County Prothonotary Office and was honored by being presented the Liberty Bell Award in 1983. Mrs. Lindley was a member of the I.C. Friendship Club and the Washington Hospital Auxiliary. On November 27, 1937 she married Earl Lindley with whom she celebrated 66 years of marriage this past year. Surviving in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Kathy Walther of Washington and Rosemary Dittman of West Finley; a sister, Martha Mast of Washington; five grandchildren, Cyril, Renate, and Johann Walther, Chad Dittman and Erika Dittman Minch; and Five great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are; a son Paul Lindley who died at birth; a brother Stephen Fisher; and two sisters, Irene Fisher Johnson and Elizabeth Wilson Hall. Friends of Catherine Marie "Sadie" Lindley, of Prosperity, will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 11, 2004 at 10:00am in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
