Marie A. Rowe, 86, of Washington, died at Washington County Health Center, following a lengthy illness.
Marie was born Maria MicKanin, on February 22, 1922, in the beautiful city of Prague, Czechoslovakia. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Maria Solanic MicKanin. Marie immigrated to the United States when 7 years old and grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio area.
She worked with her family in their boarding house, attended Cleveland State College, and worked in the financial market.
Marie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 26, 1945, and was know in the community for her volunteer ministry focused around God’s Word.
On November 10, 1946, she married Thomas F. Rowe, her husband of almost 60 years. Together they were an example to all of what it meant to be happily married. Mr. Rowe died August 8, 2006.
Marie, hard-working and loyal, always put three things first in her life: her love of God, love of family, and love of neighbor. She was a true caregiver and was always hospitable.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas F. (Janice) Rowe, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and David (Bonnie) F. Rowe, of Washington; two grandchildren, Melissa M. (Micah) Phelps, and David F. (Heather) Rowe, Jr.; a great grandchild, Logan G. Rowe, and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, Frank MicKanin.
A private memorial service was held for her family.
