Member of Abundant Life Church in Washington
Esther B. Ewing, 85, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, in Washington Hospital, following a five-year illness.
She was born February 11, 1919, in Chartiers Township, a daughter of George A. and Carrie Ervin Barney.
Mrs. Ewing graduated from Trinity High School in 1938.
She was a homemaker and member of Abundant Life Church, formerly Allison Avenue Baptist Church, in Washington.
On January 25, 1942, she married Clarence Edgar Ewing, who died March 27, 1989.
Surviving are a son, Phillip E. Ewing of Washington; a daughter, Lois Merrin Ewing Podwils of Dumfriest, Va.; two granddaughters, Debra Louise Holly and Pamela Sue Kurtz; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Nevada Taylor, Hazel Cruzen and Ellen Anderson; five brothers, Russell Barney, Archie Milligan Barney, Alvie L. Barney, and infant brothers, David and Wilbur. She was the last of her immediate family.
EWING - Friends of Esther B. Ewing of Washington, who died Wednesday, February 18, 2004, will be recieved from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 23, with the Rev. Rick Bruckner officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Lung Association.
