Barbara Jo Pierson, 50, of Washington, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, in the Washington Hospital following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on August 19, 1954, a daughter of Herman Pierson, Sr., of West Alexander, and the late Mary Jo Cole Pierson.
She had attended both Washington Schools and Trinity Schools, and worked as a Teller in the Express Bet at the Meadows Race Track. She enjoyed crocheting, needle point, bowling and bingo.
Surviving are a son, James Nixon of Washington; a daughter, Amy Jo Whewell of Washington; two brothers, Herman Pierson, Jr., of West Alexander and James Pierson of Washington; a sister, Carrie Pierson of Westland; and two grandchildren, Alayna Whewell and Brendon Nixon.
Friends of Barbara Jo Pierson, 50, of Washington, who died Saturday, April 16, 2005, will be received on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at 1:00 pm, Rev. Susan Kidder-Petritis officiating. Private burial will be held at a later date in Washington Cemetery.
