Harry Edward Ickes, 97, of Washington, died at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2005, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington, following a lengthy illness.
He was born July 9, 1907, in McKees Rocks, a son of Herbert W. and Loretta Minder Ickes.
Mr. Ickes was a high school graduate and attended Carnegie Tech for two years.
Before retiring, he was a supervisor at Air Reductions Sales Co., where he worked for 35 years.
He attended Church of the Brethren and was a member of Masonic Lodge in Altoona.
His wife, Leona Riefer, died in 1974.
Surviving are two sons, David Ickes and wife Sue of Ardmore and Dr. Roy Ickes and wife Judi of Washington; three brothers, Hubert Ickes of Virginia, Herbert Ickes of Arizona and Robert Ickes of the state of California; a sister, Rosella of Greensburg; five grandchildren, Scott, Kalan, Kory and David Ickes and Mary Rice ; and two great grandsons, Solomon Currie Ickes and Peter Jacob Rice .
A son, Paul Ickes, is deceased.
Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 18, in Carson Valley Cemetery, Duncansville, with the Rev. Marlys Hirschberger officiating.
