Cora M. Miller, 81, of Washington, died Monday, July 14, 2008, in her home. She was born January 20, 1927, in Somerset Township, Washington County, a daughter of John Everett and Dessie Della Garrett Vester. She was a graduate of Trinity High School in 1944 and a member of North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church. Mrs., Miller was a farmer on the family dairy farm for fifty years. She was also a telephone operator with Bell of Pennsylvania, where she was given the “Miss Voice” Award. She was a member of North Buffalo Grange #1523, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, Pennsylvania Holstein Association, and Washington County Dairy Promotion. Mrs. Miller enjoyed arts and music, synchronized swimming, gardening, ice-skating, and was an avid Steeler's fan. On May 15, 1953, she married James Walker Miller, Jr., who died November 5, 2001. Surviving are two sons, James W. (Brenda) Miller III, and Robert W. (Caitie) Miller, of Washington; and three daughters, Karen L., Liggett, Susan M. Miklic, and Lisa C. Hamilton, all of Washington; 10 grandchildren, Clint and Jacin Flowers, Lauren and James W. Miller IV, David, Matthew,and Jennifer Miklic, April Waltz, Erika, and Emily Liggett; three great grandchildren, Dylan, Jordon and Cody. Deceased are two brothers, William and Everett; and three sisters, Thelma, Sara, and Dessie.
Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. Additional viewing 11:00 to 12:00 noon, the time of the service, Thursday, July 17, at North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. John Mark Scott and Pastor Gary Gibson, co-officiating. Burial will follow in West Alexander Cemetery.
