Margaret J. Haney, 98, of Washington, died on Thursday, February 5, 2004 in Canonsburg Hospital after having been in declining health. She was born in Jamestown, New York on May 21, 1905, a daughter of Charles and Florence McMillan Schriver. Mrs. Haney was a home maker and had been a member of the North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church for more than 55-years having served as an Elder, on the Missionary Session, in the Choir for twenty years, and was a long time Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed gardening and especially flowers, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Buffalo Grange, as well as the Auxiliary at the Presbyterian Home.
On September 22, 1923 she married Robert Alexander Haney, Sr. who died June 13, 1971.
Surviving are two sons, Willard C. and Gilbert J. Haney, both of Washington; a daughter Betty Jean Grim of Washington; eight grandchildren, Larry Haney, Elaine Bodnar, Mellissa Kulig, Doris Jean Bredniak, Deborah Ann Gump, Rosemarie Noble Dennis Grim, and Sandy Hallam; fourteen great-grandchildren; and twenty-one great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Haney is preceded in death by a son Robert A. Haney, Jr., and a child who died as an infant; four brothers, Willard “ Bill “ , Earl, Walter, and James Mendel Schriver; and a sister Edith Schriver.
Friends of Margaret J. Haney, 98, of Washington, will be received from 7 to 9 PM Saturday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Sunday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, and from 10 to 11 AM the time of service on Monday, February 9, 2004 in North Buffalo United Presbyterian Church, 711 Rural Valley Road, Washington, Pastor Gary Gibson officiating.
