David William Humphreys, Sr., 65, of Washington, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, in his home, following a four-year illness.
He was born January 12, 1943, in Washington, a son of Corinne Houston Humphreys, of Washington, and the late Alton A. Humphreys.
Mr. Humphreys was a member of Third United Presbyterian Church.
He graduated from Trinity High School in 1962 and had worked at Washington Mould, where he was a shipping clerk.
Mr. Humphreys was involved in the football program at Washington High School for three years, and was a volunteer at the Brownson House for twenty-eight years. He once played dart ball for Allison Avenue Baptist Church and Third United Presbyterian Church, was a NASCAR fan, enjoyed all football games, baseball, and his grandchildren’s youth sports.
On August 25, 1962, he married Juanita Thomas, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, David (Debbie) Humphreys, Jr., Ron (Susan) Humphreys, and Scott (Kim) Humphreys, all of Washington; a daughter, Michelle (Jeff) Moran, of Washington; and ten grandchildren, Derek, Danielle, Ron, Jr., Cory, Kyrie, Kylie and Seth Humphreys, Justin Phillips, and Tyler and Cameron Moran.
Deceased are two brothers, Richard and Robert.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, September 13, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14th, with Pastor Thomas P. Bellhy officiating.
