Darius Michael Voytek

Air Force veteran served in Desert Shield/Storm. Darius Michael Voytek, 48, of South Park, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born March 11, 1957, in Anchorage, Alaska, a son of Albert Voytek of Tampa, Fla., and Eunice Gallagher Ross of Washington. Mr. Voytek was a 1975 graduate of Washington High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in track and football. He was also a regional and state champion in figure and dance roller skating. Mr. Voytek was a U.S. Air Force veteran who was a technical sergeant serving in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm from August 22, 1990, to March 28, 1991. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three oak leaf clusters, Noncommissioned Officer Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with four oak leaf clusters and Kuwait Liberation Medal. He was a scale service technician for Ohio Valley Scale, Triadelphia, W.Va. Mr. Voytek was Protestant. He was a member of LOOM 22 and former member of Sons of the Legion Post 175. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his stepmother, Charlotte Joan Voytek of Tampa; a daughter, Amanda Voytek of Mountain Home, Idaho; two sisters, Cheryl (William) Martin of Washington and Alison Lorraine (Bradley) Phillips of New Holland, Ill.; three nephews, Christopher, Paul and Matthew Phillips; and his fiancee, Ellen Harris of South Park. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 10 until 11 a.m., the hour of service, Saturday, October 29, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Private burial will be held at a later date in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with graveside services accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175 and Air Force Honor Guard.
