Retired welder for National Annealing Box Co.
John Sheron McMullen, 75, of Washington, died Tuesday, May 20, 2008, in his home. He had been in declining health.
He was born June 28, 1932, in Washington, a son of Kenneth Sheron McMullen and Laura Mae Bane McMullen.
A 1950 graduate of Washington High School, Mr. McMullen served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
For 45 years, he worked as a welder at National Annealing Box Co.
Mr. McMullen was Protestant.
On August 22, 1951, he married Ellen Louise Young, who died March 14, 2002.
Surviving are two sons, John Elgin McMullen of Hopwood and Lawrence "Butch" McMullen of Washington; two daughters, Carol Ann Chappel of Washington and Sherry McMullen of Peters Township; 10 grandchildren, Cassie, Jessica and Travis Gatten, Christopher and Nathan Chappel, J. L. McMullen and Lauren, Ashley, Tiffany and Chelsea McMullen; and a great-grandchild.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 23. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded graveside by Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion.
