Charles Edward Eckels, 66, of Washington, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Donnell House, following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 24, 1942, in Houston Run, a son of Vincent and Margaret Fields Eckels.
Mr. Eckels attended Monongahela High School. His faith was protestant.
He was a laborer/welder at Babcock and Wilcox and had been formerly employed by Keystone Blind Association.
Mr. Eckels loved trains, enjoyed woodcarving, doing lawn work, and eating out with his wife.
He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Washington Chapter of HOG.
On October 19, 1963, he married Helen Lemley, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Charles (Chuckie), Jr. (Melanie) Eckels, of Avella, Troy (Karen) Eckels, and Daniel (Tina) Eckels, both of Washington; two sisters, Peggy Ward, of Florida and Carol Akins, of Kentucky; five grandchildren, Chelsie, Troy, Jr., John, Gabriel and Scyanne. Nephews and nieces also survive him.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 29, 2008, with Pastor Jason Jablonski officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mt. Morris.
