Kenneth Elwood Miles

Kenneth Elwood Miles, 60, of Claysville, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, in Donnell House, following a lengthy illness. He was born May 5, 1948, in Washington, a son of Alice Marie McMasters DePaoli of Washington and the late Elwood Kenneth Miles. Mr. Miles was a graduate of Trinity High School. He was a Marine Corps. Veteran, having served in Vietnam and earning the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Combat Action Ribbon and Rifle Marksmanship Badge. He was discharged from active duty on November 1, 1969, with a rank of corporal, and then served in the Marine Corps. Reserves until September 12, 1973. Mr. Miles last worked for Robinson Pipe Cleaning and previously worked at 247 Equipment in Eighty-Four, Interstate Pipe and Supply for several years and as a foreman at Penn Cable Repair in Houston for 20 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, yard work and animals, especially dogs. Mr. Miles was Protestant. On October 27, 1979, he married Donna Maxine Toland, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Jodie Renee Miles, at home; a brother, William Miles of Washington; two sisters, Kathy McGuire of Indiana and Deborah Cumer of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a brother, Robert Miles; and his stepfather, Dutch DePaoli. Friends will be received Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 28th, with Rev. Mary Sprowls officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Dallas, West Virginia. Edwin Scott Linton Post 175 of the American Legion will accord military rites at the funeral home on the day of service.
