Florence Jean Carson, 84, of Woodstock, Ga., formerly of Washington, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2005, in North Side Hospital, Atlanta, Ga., following a two-week illness. She was born September 7, 1920, in Washington, a daughter of William W. "Slim" and Viral Sage Westlund. Mrs. Carson was a lifelong member of Fairhill Manor Christian Church. She was a homemaker, enjoyed crafts and was a member of Washington Chapter 409 Order of the Eastern Star. On October 17, 1941, she married John C. (Jack) Carson, who died April 13, 1991. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ray Baer of Woodstock; three grandsons and their wives, Ray Mark and Priscilla Baer of Franklin, Tenn., Troy M. and Ann Baer of Wexford and Jarrod J. and Amy Baer of Atlanta; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Tony and Blaise Baer, Caitlin, Matthew and Ryan Baer and Sarah and Caroline Baer; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a brother, William "Hooks" Westlund.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Willam G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 25, with the Rev. Dr. David A. Mansfield officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to Fairhill Manor Christian Choir, 351 Montgomery Ave., Washington.
