Howard Paul Bissett, Sr., 83, of Hickory, died on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, at his home. He was born on November 1, 1921, in Amity, PA, a son of Joseph V. Rea and Roxanna Briggs.
Mr. Bissett was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed antique tractors and farm equipment. He also enjoyed the outdoors and forestry, and was a trapper when he was younger.
On November 27, 1940, he married Nellie Jane Brown, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Howard Paul Bissett, Jr. (Sally), of Houston, PA; Robert Rea Bissett (Diana) and Edward Charles Bissett (Rita), both of Hickory, PA; a daughter, Jane Elizabeth Lucas (Rich), of Hickory, PA; a son-in-law, William Ullom (Betty); 2 sisters, Margaret Rea Schofield of Hickory, PA and Stella Rea Evans, of Houston, PA; 11 grandchildren, William Ullom (Sandy); Theodore Ullom (Debra); Sheila Bissett Hackinson (Art); Janet Bissett Hamilton (Lee); Jeffrey Paul Bissett (Marjorie); Leslie Allison Bissett, Robert Ullom (Ann); Andrew Ullom (Gina); Cody Dale Wood, Carmen Jane Lucas and Sara Ann Wood; and 7 great grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Lois Mae Bissett Ullom, and a sister, Emma Bissett Arrigo.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA 15301, and from 12-1:00 p.m. at the Chartiers Crossroads Presbyterian Church, where services will be held at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Barry Sweet officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Prospect Cemetery.
