Nicholas Louis Yurkovich, 79, of Washington, died Wednesday, February 6, 2008, in The Washington Hospital.
He was born November 25, 1928, in Washington, a son of Louis and Cecilia Girdish Yurkovich.
Mr. Yurkovich served in the Marine Corps. from February 27, 1946, until his honorable discharge on December 11, 1947. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
For 20 years, he worked as a coal miner at Mathies Mine.
Mr. Yurkovich enjoyed hunting, building houses, and spending time at the Sunset Auto Garage.
Surviving are his wife, Regina Veronica Bobik Yurkovich; three sons, Nicholas Yurkovich, Jr., Rudy (Phyllis) Yurkovich, and Marko L. Yurkovich; three daughters, Cecilia (Donald) Greene, Darlene (Edward) Sheppard and Nicolette (Brett) Shriver; one sister, Dorothy Schiller; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Joyce Clemens; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Yurkovich; and a brother, Louis Yurkovich.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008.
