Mary Pollock Mirto, 92, of Washington, died Thursday, October 2, 2008 in the Washington County Health Center, following brief illness. She was born August 8, 1916, in Marguerite, a daughter of Mike and Julie Kopcho Pollock. During World War II, Mrs. Mirto worked at Duncan Miller, and later, as a housekeeper at First Christian Church. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and its Christian Mothers. On March 16, 1938, she married Nicholas Paul Mirto, who died August 3, 1985. Surviving are five daughters, Theresa Horner, Priscilla Hodgens, Mary Jane (John) Biss, Darlene (William) McDonald and Marlene (Bill) Day; a half brother, Bill Pollock of the state of Washington; two half sisters, Alice McCaffrey of New Castle and Edna Mae Doresio of Hickory; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother, Thomas Pollock; two great-grandchildren, Billy Joseph Jones, III and Thomas E. Tarr, Jr.; and a son-in-law, James Hodgens. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd. 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 8th, in Immaculate Conception Church, with Father Nichols Spirko as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Activities Department, Washington County Health Center, 36 Old Hickory Ridge Road, Washington PA 15301.
