Genevieve J. Babiarz, 73, of Washington, died Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Washington, following a two-and-a-half-year illness.
She was born August 12, 1933, in Lancaster, Ohio, a daughter of Theodore R. and Iva Pearl Gilkey Cave.
A 1952 graduate of Hickory High School, Mrs. Babiarz was one of the first female lobbyists for the dairy industry and was a founding member of United Dairy Farms.
She was owner and operator of Babiarz Dairy Store and also owned and operated the Holiday Shoppe in West Alexander for several years.
Mrs. Babiarz was a member of Claysville United Methodist Church and a former member of Eastern Star.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Ann Russell Daly and Cynthia Russell Owens, both of Boston, Mass.; three sisters, Ruth Kramer of Burgettstown, Doris Barney of Washington and Melda McDonald Schwenger of Canonsburg; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a nephew, Ron Kramer; and a niece, Linda Kramer.
Deceased are her companion of 20 years, Joe Butch Frye; and two brothers, Richard and Theodore Cave Jr.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation. Interment in Claysville Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, in Claysville United Methodist Church. Memorial donations may be made to United Methodist Women of Claysville, P.O.
