Grace Leona Progar, 84, formerly of Canonsburg, died at 10:55 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in Greenery Specialty Care Center, where she had been a resident for several years.
She was born September 3, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of Lewis Hobart and Lucy Ellen Yeager Plott.
Mrs. Progar graduated from Trinity High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, SNPJ Lodge 138, and the residence council at the Greenery, where she had served as chairperson.
Mrs. Progar loved bingo, her family, and the color purple.
Her husband, John William Progar, died December 16, 1983.
Surviving are a son, John L. (Linda) Progar of Bradenton, Florida; two granddaughters, Amy (Scott) Bonnell of Washington and Beth (John) Walker of Bridgeville; a step-grandson, B.C. Cowden of Washington; a great-granddaughter, Morgan Brooke Bonnell; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are four brothers, William, Al “Tigg,â€쳌 Donald and Harlen Plott; and three sisters, Shirley Willis, Twila Golubosky and Linda Plott.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2007, with Rev. Thomas Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
