John Frank Lenhart, Jr., 79, of Houston, died Monday, August 15, 2005, in Canonsburg General Hospital, following a brief illness. He was born November 23, 1925, in Washington, a son of Frank and Benetta Sutton Lenhart. Mr. Lenhart was a graduate of Washington High School and a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bridgeville. Mr. Lenhart served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as a Signalman Second Class, receiving the Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, with one star. He was employed by McGraw-Edison for 42 years in the testing department. He had also served as Union President. He enjoyed football, hunting and traveling and was a member of American Legion Post 902, Houston. In 1967, he married Jane White, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Larry Wayne Lenhart of Washington, Theodore Clark of Gerard, Ohio, and Richard Clark of Ocala, Fla.; four daughters, Connie Sue Cain of Washington, Diane Shuman of Strabane, Mary Lou Gorby of Gerard, Ohio, and Carol Johnson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Marcelette Shearn of Washington; 19 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 18, with the Rev. Donald G. Matzat officating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 902, Houston, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191, Canonsburg. The family suggests memorial contributions to Zion Lutheran Church, 3179 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017; or Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, Flood Relief Fund, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg, PA 15317.
