George A. Sutton

George A. Sutton, 85, of Bethel Park, PA, died at 11:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at The Washington Hospital. He was born on January 10, 1920, in Pittsburgh, PA, a son of George and Helen Crowley Sutton. Mr. Sutton worked at Pittsburgh Screw and Bolt. Mr. Sutton was a United States Army veteran of WWII. He was a Technical Sergeant, serving with Squadron C in the 3502nd AAF Base Unit. He participated in the air offensive in Japan, as well as Campaigns in China, New Guinea, Luzon, the Northern Solomon Islands, Southern Philippines, Bismarck Archipelago and the Western Pacific. For his service, he received the Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with 8 Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star. Surviving is a niece, Judith McCarren, of Eighty-Four, PA. Deceased are a niece, Sandra Weigle; and 2 sisters, Helen Elizabeth Sutton Weigle and Edith Marion Sutton. Services will be at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA, on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
