William I. Fasnacht, 74, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in his home. He was born October 23, 1930, in Punxsutawney, a son of Charles R. and Bonnie Brock Fasnacht. Mr. Fasnacht was a graduate of East Washington High School and attended Ohio State University and Washington & Jefferson College. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Diablo 479 Submarine Service. In 1992, he retired from Allstate Insurance Co. after 34 years. Mr. Fasnacht was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church and a former Fort Cherry School Board member. He was an avid golfer. On June 16, 1956, he married Barbara Caldwell, his wife of 49 years, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Colleen Fasnacht (Tim) Allison of Hickory; two sons, Eric (Tracey) Fasnacht of McDonald and Alan (Alisa) Fasnacht of Scenery Hill; four grandchildren, Catherine Fasnacht of South Carolina and John, Erin and Jared Allison, all of Hickory; and two sisters, Mary Alice Harris of Columbus, Ohio, and Mildred Peterson of Zephyr Hills, Fla. A sister, Lillian McManus, is deceased.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, with the Rev. R. Douglas Reinard officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Hickory United Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Box 97, Hickory, PA 15340.
