Member of First Church of the Nazarene. Gertrude Leota McCauley, 82, of Washington, died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in Humbert Lane, Washington, following an 18-month illness. She was born March 9, 1923, in Washington County, a daughter of Ralph and Bessie Sheppard Poland. Mrs. McCauley was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was a manager and cook in a drugstore and enjoyed sewing, crafts and flower gardening. Her husband, James McCauley, died June 10, 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Charmane (Stan) Mounts of Claysville and Darlene McCauley of Washington; a brother, John Poland, and a sister, Bonnie Cox, both of Washington; and a grandson, James Munroa of Washington. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 8, with the Rev. Joseph Schiren officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens Cemetery, McMurray. The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society, 357 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
