Wilma Darlene Watson, 68, of Hickory, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in Washington Hospital.
She was born April 28, 1940, in Eighty Four, a daughter of Lewis and Jeanette Jester Shaffer.
Mrs. Watson attended Hickory schools and was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hickory Presbyterian Church.
On December 27, 1962, she married John E. Watson, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John E. Watson Jr. of Hickory; two daughters, Donna Johnson of Washington and Diane Watson of Hickory; a brother, Lewis Shaffer of Louisville, Ohio; four sisters, Jeannette Morrison of Ash Grove, Mo., Verdie Fischer of Lone Star, Texas, and Betty Hull and Judy Carter, both of Bedford, Va.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Kaitlyn Griffith.
Deceased are a brother, Charles Shaffer; and two sisters, Linda Shaffer and Rosemary Shaffer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 31, with the Rev. R. Douglas Reinard officiating. Burial in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
