Kathryn Baer Jones

Kathryn B. Jones, 87, of Washington, died Saturday, February 16, 2008, following a one year illness. She was born in Washington, on May 25, 1920, a daughter of John L. and Lucille Wiles Baer. On February 17, 1942, she married Charles L. Jones, who died on December 30, 1972. Mrs. Jones retired from Metro/Ball Glass in 1980. She later became more active as a member of American Legion Post # 175 ladies Auxiliary and has been a member more than fifty years. During her membership, she was a member of the original dart ball team and had served as Sergeant-at-Arms. Additionally, she was a member of the Washington Senior Citizens Center and recently celebrated twenty-five years as a volunteer not only at the center but, also at Washington Hospital as a greeter. Surviving are three sons, David C. ( Fran ) Jones of Canonsburg, Donald W. ( Joanne ) Jones and Richard L. ( Barbara ) Jones, both of Washington; four grandchildren, Daniel, Jerrod, Donald II, and Darren; several great-grandchildren; one sister Beverly Van Briggle of Washington; one brother Earl ( Marion ) Baer of New Jersey; and a half-sister Helen Corbin of Delaware. Preceding her in death are two brothers, Bernard and John Jr. as well as a sister Emma Ray. Friends of Kathryn B. Jones, 87, of Washington, who died Saturday, February 16, 2008, will be received on Monday, from 7 to 9 PM, and Tuesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2008, with Pastor Joel Van Briggle officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to the Washington Senior Citizens Center.
