Helen Henderson, 92, of Washington, died Friday, March 19, 2004 in the Presbyterian Medical Center, Washington, following a brief illness. She was born on February 25, 1912 in Washington, a daughter of George Franklin and Emma Jane Charlton Morrow. She was a member of the Avery United Methodist Church. Mrs. Henderson was retired having worked retail at both Marshall Dry Goods and later Thompson Hardware. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Crochet and was a member of the SewWhat’s group at her church. Additionally, she was a long time volunteer at the Presbyterian Senior Care as well as a Floor Rep at Bel Maede where she made her home.
On September 24, 1932, she married James C. Henderson who died on January 14, 1977. She is survived by two daughters, Delores Gilmore and Marlene Bane, both of Washington; five grandchildren, Marcia Petrick, Gary Gilmore, Cathy Voytek, David Bane, and James Henderson; and ten great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by a son, James D. Henderson; a grandchild; two brothers, William and George Morrow; and a sister Alice McCusker.
Friends of Helen Henderson will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Sunday in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 395 East Maiden Street, Washington, where services will be held on Monday, March 22, 2004 at 11:00 am, Rev. Stinson officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.
