Ralph Virgle Coffield

Ralph Virgle Coffield, 80, of Washington, formerly of Amity and West Virginia, died Thursday, February 5, 2004, in Washington County Health Center, Washington, following a lengthy illness. He was born September 11, 1923, in Moundsville, W.Va., a son of Albert F. and Charlotta M. Givens. Mr. Coffield was Protestant. He was employed at various farms and enjoyed gardening. On July 2, 1974, he married Mildred Gladys Nester, who survives. Also surviving are four brothers, Clarence A. Coffield of Wheeling, W.Va., Harold J. Coffield of Claysville, W. Robert Coffield of Moundsville and John M. Coffield of McMechan, W.Va.; five sisters, Emma J. Edgell of Peterson, Ala., Charlotta Wright of Claysville, Alva Ealy of Prosperity, Deloris M. Shields of Eighty Four and Sarah E. Shape of Claysville; and several nieces and nephews. One brother died at birth. At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or services. Arrangements are under the direction of William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.
