Emily Della Briggs, 68, of Washington, died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004, in Washington Hospital, following a two-year illness.
She was born August 18, 1935, in Washington, a daughter of David Lewis and Dorothy Caldwell Johnson.
Mrs. Briggs was a former member of First Christian Church of Washington.
She was a 1955 graduate of Trinity High School and was employed at Brockway Glass Plant No. 7 for 13 years.
Mrs. Briggs enjoyed cooking and loved shopping, her card club and Lagonda Investors Club.
On June 18, 1955, she married Paul C. Briggs, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Eric Paul Briggs of Washington and Darrell L. Briggs of Taylorstown; a niece she raised, Vicky Brooks of Crystal River, Fla.; three brothers, David Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, William E. Johnson of Washington and Charles S. Johnson of Canton, Ga.; two sisters, Judy Lindsey of Ardmore, Okla., and Lois Meyer of Washington; three grandchildren, Justin Paul, Tyler Blaine and Erica Danielle Briggs; and two great-grandchildren.
A sister, Dorothy Nyswaner, is deceased.
BRIGGS - Friends of Emily Della Briggs of Washington, who died Wednesday, January 7, 2004, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, with Pastor Michael Roach officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Meals on Wheels.
