Korean War vet was retired steelworker for LTV Steel
Charles W. Ball Sr., 70, of Eighty Four, died Sunday, December 21, 2003, in his home, following a brief illness.
He was born April 12, 1933, in Washington, a son of Raymond and Jessie Appleby Ball.
Mr. Ball was a retired steelworker, having worked for more than 39 years at LTV Steel in Pittsburgh.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
On August 19, 1956, he married Lois Ann Armstrong, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles William Ball Jr. of Scenery Hill and Richard Wayne Ball of Eighty Four; a daughter, Donna Comfort of Eighty Four; two brothers, Raymond Joseph Ball of Scenery Hill and Regis Ball of Missouri; four sisters, Ella Mae Sipe of Anderson, S.C., Harriet Bane of Bentleyville, Edna Hazlett of Fredericktown and Sharon Bruno of Bulger; four grandchildren, Clayton Ball, Jason Ball, Denise Lewis and Deanna Comfort; and two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, David Earl Ball; and a sister, Mary Southall.
BALL - Friends of Charles W. Ball Sr. of Eighty Four, who died Sunday, December 21, 2003, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 24. Interment will follow in Emmanuel Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Eighty Four. The family requests memorial donations be made to American Cancer Society, 357 East Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
